Oppé made a brief note of a work among Emily Buckingham’s drawings of “Louisa Drury (Merivale) poor imitation of the above”, referring probably to FT580 but possibly FT452. If the copy is indeed of Oakhampton Castle, possibly it is the same Oakhampton sketch that was, in 1998, in the collection of Mrs Young (formerly Mrs MacBrien and born Rosamund Merivale in 1912), a great-great-granddaughter of John Herman Merivale (see also FT389, FT511, FT514, FT557, FT611, FT885). However, as Mrs Young considered the sketch to be by Towne himself, it may be unrelated to this work.
