Comment
An otherwise unidentified sketch “Near Rocca del Papa” was sold on 12 April 1946 by Judith Merivale’s executors to Agnew’s, who sold it on 19 February 1947 for £47 5s. to J. S. Bromley (possibly the historian). The known provenances of the other Rocca di Papa subjects in this catalogue preclude the possibility of their being identified with the work sold to Bromley.
