James White ordered a copy of a Llangollen sketch that Towne had made on their 1777 tour of Wales. On the grounds of its subject, it is suggested as one of Towne’s 1779 Royal Academy exhibits (331, A view in North Wales, near Llangollen, in Denbighshire), which was not marked for sale. For Towne’s other 1779 Royal Academy exhibit see FT145.
