Comment

Given the number of waterfalls that Towne was to draw in Devon in later years (at Canonteign, Chudleigh, and Lydford), the subject of this picture may be an indication that Towne had moved to Devon by this point. The exhibition catalogue gave Towne’s address as “Opposite Beaufort Buildings, Strand”, which was presumably William Pars’s home.
