It was offered for sale at Phillips on 2 November 1987, lot 12, but is otherwise untraced.

The preparatory sketch for this is unknown. According to a note from Sir Francis Acland to Paul Oppé, the subject is Luccombe’s Church of St Mary the Virgin, a few miles south of Holnicote.1
