Comment

This is an unfinished copy of Pompey’s Bridge at Terni, engraved by James Gandon Jr. after Richard Wilson. Possibly it derives not from the print itself but from a drawing Towne made of it (no such drawing is known, but Miss Maingey’s copy seems to be drawn in Towne’s style). The drawing appears on folio 1 (recto) of the sketchbook. The verso contains some pencil scribbles.
